Rainbow Games Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland 2024 is thrilled to announce that Nevertheless, a leading Māori, Pasifika and Takatāpui Rainbow+ mental health non-profit organisation, will be producing the Arts and Culture Festival at the inaugural games. This partnership signifies a shared commitment to diversity, inclusion, and the celebration of LGBTQI+ participants and their allies.

The Rainbow Games 2024 is an inclusive sporting event that brings together athletes from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and identities, centred around four core values: Tūrangawaewae, Manamotuhake, Hauora, and Manaakitanga, which ultimately represent a sense of belonging, a holistic approach to health and fostering a culture of inclusivity, support, and camaraderie.

Overall, their mission is to create safe spaces for Māori and Pasifika Rainbow+ peoples to be free to be heard, free to be seen and free to be their full authentic selves without denying any part of their holistic identity out of shame or stigma.

The shared values and Kaupapa of Nevertheless intertwine with the Rainbow Games, establishing a connection that will bring people together during Games’ timeand unite efforts to support and empower the LGBTQI+ population.

Alongside the Opening Ceremony, player accreditation, goodie bag and registration to a sport, access to the Arts and Culture programme is another exciting addition to the player package. Players can expect exclusive priority access to a range of arts and culture activities, including:

Brazilian Divas, Drag Artists, Tongan Dance Groups, an Ei Katu Workshop, a Tūrama Art Exhibition and many more diverse artists and entertainers.  These can be enjoyed before, during and after they participate in sporting activities.
